Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan in Abhimaan Remake

Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan will soon play husband and wife in the remake of Abhimaan.

For the uninitiated the original Abhiman starred Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan and revolved around a couple who become professional rivals in the music industry

Rajiv Menon will direct the new version and  AR Rahman will give the music score.

A source says, “Rajeev was very keen to make the film with Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. The film has the backdrop of music and both Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek are playing singers in the film. In fact, Aishwarya was so excited about the film that she immediately gave dates for the shooting. The husband-wife duo is currently working on Mani Ratnam’s film, Ravana, which is based on the Ramayana. After that, they will start shooting for Rajeev’s film. Rajeev had earlier worked with Aishwarya Rai in Kandukondain Kandukondain, which released in 2000.”
