Pope knocked down by a woman on Christmas Eve Mass!

On Thursday (December 24), a woman on a red jumper attacked Pope Benedict XVI as he walked down the main aisle to begin Christmas Eve Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica. She was seen jumping off the barriers and pushing the pope, causing the pope to lost his balance and fell down. The 82-year-old pope quickly got up and was unhurt, said a Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Ciro Benedettini. The commotion occurred as the pope’s procession was making its way toward the main altar and shocked gasps rang out through the public that packed the basilica. The procession came to a halt and security rushed to the trouble spot.

He woman was arrested by Vatican’s police, due to her repetitive attacks to religious figures in Vatican. Benedettini said that the mentally unstable woman also knocked down Cardinal Roger Etchegaray, who was taken to hospital for a checkup.
